SHIPYARD ACTIVITY

TWS provides critical information in a concise manner to support vessel owners’ high-level R&M and CAPEX decisions. Our Project Managers can then oversee implementation of these decisions balancing cost control and time sensitivity while maximizing a vessel’s commercial value.

TWS manages all aspects of shipyard projects including tendering amongst shipyards, class and flag communication, technical drawing review for contract compliance, budgetary forecast, and provision of on-site representatives.

VESSEL INSPECTIONS

TWS facilitates pre-purchase and pre-hire inspections to assess overall build quality, completeness of ship documentation, and alignment with NOC or IOC standards. TWS has experience inspecting vessels with respect to the following NOC and IOC unique requirements: Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, Qatar Petroleum, Exxon, Chevron, Shell, and Total.

Charterers often have unique marine requirements that vessels must comply with prior to going on hire. These requirements can overlap, vary by region, and be contradictory with other regulatory authorities. TWS provides practical gap analyses between various charterers’ marine requirements, regulatory rules, and accepted industry practices.

VESSEL COMMISSIONING
TWS assists with the transition of vessels under construction, major repair, or upgrade to being on-hire and earning revenue. This includes: creating detailed operating instructions, technical library, and spare parts inventory; facilitating of dock and sea-trials; and crewing activities.
VESSEL MOBILIZATION

Marine Warranty Surveyors have a critical role in protecting the interests of insurance companies, but the needs of vessel owners who have large deductibles at stake can exceed those interests.

Mobilization contracts are typically drafted by the Heavy-Lift/Semi-Sub owner. Hence, the owner of the vessels being transported can be exposed to unexpected costs. TWS provides experience from the owner’s perspective to manage mobilization of vessels in a cost conscious manner..

MOPU CONVERSION
Mobile Offshore Production Units (MOPU) provide operators with financial flexibility and have a shorter lead time to deploy offshore relative to fixed platforms. TWS advises operators on technical requirements and costs related to the following MOPU topics: identification of Jack-Up, associated shipyard conversion, regulatory compliance, and deployment of the MOPU offshore.
M&A ADVISORY
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) are particularly challenging in the marine industry due to the practical and regulatory demands to maintain operations during transitional periods. TWS can act as a third party mediator to facilitate cohesion between different organizations’ systems, policies, procedures, and cultures. TWS has specialists who have successfully managed M&A transitions in the maritime industry.
